There are basically two types of website designs - static and dynamic. What is the difference static and dynamic web design? This is what is precisely going to be discussed here.

Static web design
A static site is written in plain simple HTML. The code of the page is what is displayed to the user. Each page is a separate file and there is no database it is dependent on. The only way to make any change to the page is to go the code and do the required.

Dynamic web design
A dynamic site is is written using a server-side scripting language such as PHP, ASP, JSP, or Coldfusion. Here the site of the content is dependent on the scripting language from other files or from a database. Depending on actions taken by the user or the web master, the content of the site can change.

Comparing dynamic web design versus static
The main advantage of a static site is that you can make every page if desired. The designer has complete freedom to put in any special effects that a client asks. But the main problem with any static site is when the content has to be updated. You cannot do this unless you are well verse with the html codes and the languages used. You will have to seek the help of the web designer and developer.

A dynamic site uses a much more complex code than a static web design and therefore gives the coder or user much more freedom to do more. He can easily change different parts of the site and add or delete information. As information of each page is based on the information from a database, all that needs to be done is make changes in the database. Dynamic web designs can also lower the ongoing maintenance costs of the site. Another advantage of dynamic sites is that you can easily change the content of the site without intervening with the design.
